DON-KAN
Typeface & Specimen

Don-Kan is a typeface inspired by Junichi Watanabe's novel "The Power of Insensitivity." The essence of the book revolves around the strength derived from being less sensitive, empowering individuals to confront life's setbacks and challenges with ease. Aligned with the theme of insensitivity, this typeface employs a stable structure, concealing sharp incisions within its design. The majority of letter strokes follow a strictly horizontal or vertical orientation, with select letters featuring sharp starting edges. This symbolic incorporation represents the interplay between insensitivity and the adversities of life. The beginnings and endings of the letters predominantly consist of entirely horizontal or vertical shapes. Don-Kan seeks to showcase a style characterized by steadfastness, resistant to easy alteration, yet infused with subtle details and variations.
